Locating Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman
Elbert County has two municipalities: Elberton and Bowman. There are three state highways passing through the county, which converge in Elberton: 72, 17 and 77. Heading west, Georgia Highway 72 connects to Athens, GA with easy access to Atlanta. Heading east and north, Highway 72 goes all the way to Charlotte, NC. Heading north, Georgia Highway 17 travels a route where you may get on Interstate 85. Going south, Highway 17 goes to I-20 or you may continue on to Interstate 16 traveling to Savannah and the Port of Savannah.
Heading north on Georgia Highway 77, it is a 35 minute ride to Interstate 85.
